This test build has no player account system, advertising scripts or third-party analytics SDK. The season planner does not upload your routes, results, or settings.

Zoom Out uses a random session cookie to save your daily game. The server stores your guesses, progress and scores under an anonymous identifier. Records older than 35 days are removed when the game is next used. The cookie lasts 30 days and is not an advertising cookie. A game started yesterday can finish today; completed rounds cannot be restarted in the same session. Clearing this site’s browser data starts a new session and does not instantly erase its previous server record.

Your season-planner routes, results and preferences, plus a local copy of Zoom Out progress, stay in this browser’s local storage. Zoom Out checks its saved server progress when you reload. The earlier prototype used local saves only; those results remain unverified local records during the migration.

Zoom Out satellite imagery comes through the game server, so Esri receives the server’s imagery requests rather than your guesses or session cookie. Abuse limits use hashed network/session identifiers. During active use, cleanup removes short-term rate-limit records older than three hours, daily player-bootstrap counters older than 35 days, and request receipts older than three days for players or seven days for owner edits. Cleanup can take longer while the game is inactive. Published challenges and owner edit history are retained.

Player notices use the signed session’s first observed UTC day or today’s completion where applicable. Dismissing a notice applies to its exact version in that browser session; an edited version may appear again. Inactive notice profiles are removed after 35 days during active cleanup.

If you submit feedback through the player form, the message, category, server UTC day and support reference are stored privately for the owner. Optional device details are off by default: choosing to share them sends only browser/platform groups, a small/medium/large screen group and the game phase. No attachments or automatic copies of guesses, coordinates, URLs, cookies or full browser-identification strings are included. Reports are removed after 35 days without an update during active cleanup. Owner audit references are retained separately. The form becomes available when its interface is integrated.

When pilot measurements are enabled, the game sends its own server only the time taken to make a map/view ready, stored in 50-millisecond groups under the anonymous session. These unverified client samples are removed after 35 days during active cleanup. The server also counts requests, server failures and cache hits in daily totals. These measurements are not advertising tracking and are not shared with a third-party analytics service.

Fonts, game code and track outlines are bundled with the page. Zoom Out's guessing map loads its map tiles, map fonts and icons from OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org), a free OpenStreetMap map service, so OpenFreeMap receives normal web requests for the parts of the map you look at, but nothing about your guesses. Apart from that, the game makes no requests to font services, analytics or other third parties.

The hosting provider receives normal web requests and may retain access logs. Its actual logging and any analytics configuration must be reviewed when hosting is set up. This notice must be updated before adding analytics, ads, accounts, or a consent platform.

Sharing uses your browser’s share sheet or clipboard only when you press a share or copy button. External climate-source links open only when selected.
